The Tustin Naval Air Station was established in 1942 and was the home of two huge blimp hangars measuring 1072 ft long, 292 ft wide, and 192 ft tall. The base was officially closed in 1999 and was used as a location for shooting some scenes for the movie "Pearl Harbor" (top) in 2001. Of the two hangars, Hangar No. 1 is the one that you see in the movie when Lt. Col. James Doolittle (Alec Baldwin) is training his pilots on short take offs with the B-25s. Since the closure of the base, the property is being redeveloped so this is the best I can do to capture a shot of Hangar No. 1.
